I’ve been to Mysore on three different occasions, and twice I’ve stayed at the Windflower Resort & Spa Mysore and absolutely L-O-V-E-D it! In my heart, it is one of the most romantic hotels in all of India because I spent one of the most memorable and romantic weekends of my life there. Yet I’ve also stayed as a solo traveller for a nice spa weekend getaway (check out the video from that stay!).
Fun Facts About Mysore
Located just 2.5 – 3 hours away from Bangalore (depending on who’s driving!), Mysore is a perfect spot for a weekend getaway away from the hustle and bustle of Bangalore. According to the team at the Windflower, ‘Mysore is home to kings and warriors, giraffes from the savannah, and Ashtanga yoga gurus. Named after the demon Mahishasura, Mysore was the seat of Wodeyar and Vijayanagara dynasties, and where Tipu Sultan died for his land, sabre in hand, in his resistance against the British empire.’
Enjoy The Spa
Falling asleep during a massage is normal, right? Well, how about during a facial? It had never happened to me before my half day spent in the wildly natural and divine Ayurvedic spa at the Windflower but it was such a relaxing experience that I actually did fall asleep. Their traditional Ayurvedic oil massage and body scrubs were absolutely wonderful. And the best part was that the rooms are somewhat open to the outside so the sound of the birds and the wind through the palm trees acts as natures playlist to a relaxing experience.
With 39 wonderfully appointed rooms, suites and villas you will surely find a style that’s right for you. I stayed both visits in the same room … literally the same room because I asked for it again on my 2nd visit!, the Windflower Premium Studio. I highly recommend this room category because you’ll be staying on the ground floor so you have an outside terrace on the grassy gardens in front, and you’ll also receive an outdoor garden with an open-to-the-sky shower at the back of your room.
It’s such an amazingly liberating and freeing feeling to shower under the stars in a lush private garden. Don’t miss it!
